A swim school close to you.

Vermont Swim Academy was created from a need in our community. Our main goal is to teach water safety and the basics of swimming while also having fun! Our classes are taught at the Vermont State University Castleton location.

We have a very serious ‘choose your own adventure’ policy with our teachings. We will never make your child do anything they don’t want to do. All children learn at different speeds. Keeping them excited to come back is our goal.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in small children. Vermont Swim Academy wants to make sure all our kiddos are confident and safe in and around the water.

Each class draws from off the previous level. We want to ensure each student learns with children of similar experience.

FAQs:

Our classes are 25 minutes long. We feel this is an appropriate amount of time. The babies tend to get cold quickly while the older kiddos tend to lose focus.

If you cannot make this class, or have to drop out, PLEASE let me know! There are usually waitlists for our classes.

For Parent/Child class: Please show up on time and ready to get in the water. The student’s adult will have to be in the water the whole time with them. Note: if you are the adult and are scared of water, please consider asking another adult to be in the class. A child can sense if you’re scared. Please reach out with any questions. We’re here to help.

If your child is not potty trained, swimmers (water diapers) are required while in the pool. We don’t want to have shut the entire pool down because of one accident.

Your child will need to be in a bathing suit. Kiddos tend to get cold in the water quickly, so we recommend the suits that also have a shirt on them.

As with all public pools, we recommend shower shoes for children and adults. (I personally use my kid’s sandals but you can use whatever.) We won’t be using them in the pool. But they’ll be nice to have in the locker room and pool area.

Please do not bring goggles, flotation toys, fins, or anything else to class. We will just be in our bathing suits.
